BPP-TECH witnessed the dissection of a defective transition joint between a 1200 mm2 submarine cable and a 1600 mm2 land cable which had failed during an extended qualification test by the manufacturer. On behalf of an operator, BPP Cables provided an opinion on if the failure was related to shortcomings with the joint or the cable, if the test procedure met the requirements of IEC standards and if additional laboratory testing was carried out in accordance with applicable standards.
